  • 19 August 2004: The support newsgroup has moved to a phpbb based system. The old newsgroup and associated mailing list will be retired in the near future. Please update your subscriptions.

  • 25 June 2004: A number of patches and updates are available, including a new English recogniser for children. Documentation for the Feature package is now online.

  • 21 August 2003: The vocabulary tutor editor is now available as part of the standard CSLU Toolkit download. If you've already installed the software, you can retrieve the additional license key for the editor: Run Start->(All Programs->)CSLU Toolkit->Admin->Preferences->. Select File->System, select the "Licensing" tab and press the "Check now" button.

  • 20 June 2003: A new recogniser search engine is available. Install the latest patches, then take a look at the documentation in "C:\Program Files\CSLU\Toolkit\2.0\tutorial\StatenetViterbi\"

  • 19 June 2003: A brand new version of CUAnimate (from CSLR) is now included in the CSLU Toolkit download. CUAnimate 1.2 features more accurate lip movements and additional 3D models.

  • 4 December 2002: The first release candidate for version 2.0 of the CSLU Toolkit is now available. Please note:
    • The current beta will remain available until the end of this year.
    • The entire CSLU Toolkit developer team will be offline until December 30th. Use at your own risk.
    • The changes in release 2.0 are significant and no updates are available from 2.0b2. Please download and install the new distribution. Changes and additions include:
      • Upgrade in the Festival module to version 1.4.2
      • New American English voice "mwm5".
      • New CSLU Toolkit preferences application.
      • New animation engine "CUAnimate" graciously contributed by the Center for Spoken Language Research.
      • Baldi is no longer available.
      • Various application tweaks.
      • Consolidation of all 100+ patches applied to the beta release.
      • The software installation registration and installation process has been simplified.
    • Release 2.0 and 2.0b2 will not co-exist. Please uninstall any earlier CSLU Toolkit releases before installing this release candidate.
    • Release candidate 1 is available at this registration page. If you've registered for the beta release, enter your registration email address then click the "resend instructions" button to receive an email with installation instructions for the latest version.

  • 27 November 2002: The first release candidate for version 2.0 of the CSLU Toolkit will make its appearance on Monday, 2 December 2002. Stay tuned for an update!

  • 15 March 2002: We're pleased to announce the availability of an initial release of the CSLU Vocabulary Tutor.

  • 10 December 2001: The CSLU Toolkit newsgroup is now also available as a mailing list, courtesy of Pavel Chytil. Go to the list home page to subscribe or to view archived messages.

  • 29 June 2001: Toolkit license keys have been extended until the end of 2001 and Baldi license keys until 31 July 2001. We expect to have a new release of the CSLU Toolkit ready by the end of July. Run Start->Speech Toolkit->Admin->Licensing and click the "Download" button to retrieve new license keys.

  • 28 June 2001: A slideshow overview of the CSLU Toolkit is now available.

  • 9 June 2001: The license key update mentioned below has been revoked. License keys will be extended before the current set expires on June 30th. Please watch this space...

  • 7 June 2001: License key expiration dates for the second beta release of the CSLU Speech Toolkit have been extended until the end of this year. Run Start->Speech Toolkit->Admin->Licensing and click the "Download" button to retrieve new license keys.

  • 26 March 2001: We've had 5000 successful downloads of the CSLU Speech Toolkit.

  • 15 March 2001: ABC's PrimeTIME Thursday features our NSF funded project at the Tucker-Maxon Oral School.

  • 6 March 2001: The National Science Foundation features a project using the CSLU Speech Toolkit on their home page. Details available at "Baldi" the Virtual Tutor Helps Hearing-Impaired Children to Learn Speech"

  • 21 December 2000: We've extended the license expiration dates for the 2.0 beta version of the CSLU Speech Toolkit. If you encounter a message complaining about license keys, run the "Licensing" application under Start->Speech Toolkit->Admin and click the "Download" button. The final release of the software will have license keys that do not expire.

  • 22 September 2000: We've modified the CSLU Center Membership Agreement. The new license agreement lifts most of the restrictions on commercial use by center members.

  • 1 September 2000: The final 2.0 release has been delayed - expect to see it sometime this month. A new RAD user guide for novice users (by Alice Tarachow at the Tucker-Maxon oral school) and a set of RAD tutorials by the Center for Spoken Language Research at CU in Boulder have made it into the toolkit as a set of patches. Use the "Web Update" tool to retrieve!

  • 26 July 2000: The toolkit patch count has reached 89; the most recent patches resolve recognizer pipeline issues. A final 2.0 release is slated for August 2000.

  • 20 January 2000: Patch 048 provides container files left out of the distribution (HMM training scripts failed due to their absence.)
